There are many approaches to psychotherapy. All are directed toward the
same goal: to communicate to you a better way to experience your life in
which you "get it". You emotionally feel, taste, see, hear how your life can
change and include the better way. And then, you try the new way with
someone in your corner, supporting you with these changes. Since most
change in our life includes leaving something behind to acquire something
new, these losses can be painful. Change is seldom without pain, and
sometimes just involves being honest about what is taking place in your
life, -and the loss is of the fantasy.
It is not unusual, for a person who is in pain, to seek relief from that pain.
With physical pain, a variety of medical help is there for the asking. With
emotional pain an individual also has many possible help sources, and self-
help is available in both fields. With both medical and emotional pain, it's
often difficult to tell how serious the problem is. A small pain might grow
very rapidly into an out-of-control problem.
At times your emotions can seem to run away with you, or just be a chronic
upset. Do you find your world seemingly without direction? Are you unable
to relate in a comfortable way with those who mean, or should mean, the
most to you? Does it seem to be a matter of relationship, or a discomfort
within yourself about yourself? Perhaps you are finding questions with
your spiritual connection? Or is it that you are finding it difficult to be
as successful in your life's goals as you would like to be?
If any of these questions are of concern to you, perhaps you are presently
seeking some solutions. While self-help can often answer many questions,
working with a therapist is one of the fastest ways for you to accomplish
permanent emotional change, so that your life can become all that it was
meant to be.
